5.27.15 - Guest Cartoonist No. 1
Between finishing my next recent book and coaching at the State Track meet, I'm a little late in posting this week's comic. Lucky for me, it's guest cartoonist week here at Harts Pass :) After a recent Methow Arts residency at the local elementary school, I've put a few kids on the payroll for both this week and next. Kinda like Family Circus... except these kids are the real deal! Much thanks to Isaac Carlsen for this week's excellent unicorn strip.

Personally, I can never quite remember what snake it is that "looks" like a rattler. Bullsnake it is... but no matter what such thoughtful consideration of this particular situation isn't really necessary :)

My daughter asks a LOT of questions. Sometimes so many that I am certainly not this nice about answering them all... Anyway, maybe she gets gets inspired when she feels like she has our full attention. So it goes :)

What? NO WAY! Oh... And so it goes! Despite their purported demise, books are still a great window into an entire world of experiences that most of us will never have. Bring 'em on!
4.29.15 -- GRRReat Moments in the History of GRRRit!
The first in an occasional series about GRRRity moments and characters in history. For lack of a better word, we'll call it GRRRitory! Alternative suggestions welcome :)

On April 12, my daughter and I returned from our first-ever overseas adventure -- a week of school visits at a small International School near Trondheim, Norway. It was terrific - absolutely! - and paired with another three days of visits in Ellensburg, WA made for a whirlwind dance into spring :) As one could easily imagine with a little exploring of the hills near Stjørdal and Meråker, there are wolverines in Norway too. Not necessarily Thor and company from the pages of Harts Pass... but you just never know!
4.15.15
FINALLY home from two weeks of school amazing visits/travel near Trondheim, Norway and then 3 more days of excellent school visits in Ellensburg, WA. Harts Pass has been waiting in the wings a bit, but now we're back and good to go. Stay tuned for a post or two about the last few weeks of travel as well. GRRR!
3.25.15
The North Cascades wolverine study is coming to an end... so now the ONLY way to keep track of these critters is to keep reading these highly educational and always entertaining comics :)
3.11.14
Although quite opposite in many ways, recent information on climate change puts both polar bears and Adelie penguins in a similar state. Loss of sea ice = loss of critical habitat. Adaptations will (maybe) occur, but its a slippery slope indeed (pun totally intended). While wolverines are tough, and in this comic humorously hungry to the end, they too face critical habitat loss as late-season snowpack becomes less and less a reality. Stay tuned and stay ON IT with advocating for change. Warming is happening. How much, and whether or not we can arrest/reverse these alarming trends is up to you. GRRR!
